If you’re like most people, you have a lot of sentimental value placed on family photos. The last thing you want is for them to get damaged in the move. Here are some tips on how to properly pack pictures for moving:
Use heavy-duty boxes, regardless of whether you are packing mirrors or picture frames for moving. You will need plenty of packing paper and packing tape. Make sure to measure your mirrors and choose boxes that are slightly bigger. You can also put smaller wall art and picture frames together in one moving box.
Use bubble cushioning or glassine to surround the picture frame. Attach packing tape to the frame and place in the box. Pack your items with extra packing material to prevent them from shifting in transit.
Protect your artwork by covering it with non-acidic, protective paper, and wrapping it in bubble wrapped. Place the wrapped artwork in an additional cardboard box to make it easier to pack.
Place a piece of foam board or cardboard slightly larger than the glass on top and seal it with packing tape. You can wrap the whole thing in several sheets of packing paper, and then tape any loose ends. Bubble Wrap can be added to provide additional security and padding. Use packing tape to secure the package.
To make sure you have enough room to store your items, you will need to first clear the area. Spread your bubble wrap, packing paper, and place the frame/mirror on it. Wrap it as if you were wrapping a present. Tape the whole thing in circles.
Wrap Artwork in Bubble Wrap or Paper. Never wrap artworks or frames in the newspaper. Newsprint can mark artwork and it works well as padding. Wrap the packing tap all the way around your frame. This will make sure that the paper doesn’t move.
Place the mirror or frame on the bubble wrap. Wrap it up like wrapping a present. Wrap it in plenty of cushion and tape the edges.
Parchment paper works well because it won’t stick on your canvas which can lead to paint removal. You won’t be able to use it as a travel barrier, allowing rain and spills to not damage your piece. Use your painter’s tape to secure the paper around it.
Wrap the item with the bubbles facing up to protect it. To wrap a bowl for example, place a piece of wrap on a flat surface and have the bubbles pointed upward.
Lay the wrap bubble side down. The bubbles are more stable than the flat surface. This helps to prevent your items moving during transit. If you wrap your items correctly, the flat sides will be on top and will protect bubbles from being damaged by the box.
If you don’t have a box, wrap the mirror first. Wrap it in bubble wrap and packing papers. Finally, seal it with packing tape. Then, place the entire box on a sturdy table. Give it a gentle shake to make sure it doesn’t move.
Bubble-wrap the mirror carefully, making sure no corners or other parts are left exposed. Place the bubble-wrapped glass between two sheets of corrugated cardboard that are slightly larger than the mirror. Add more masking tape to further protect it.
Towels or bubble wrap to cover the mirror Secure the entire thing with packing tape.
If you need to pack framed art for travel, first wrap it with bubblewrap. After that, use the plastic film to wrap the whole thing.
Do not wrap your entire frame if you want to keep large photos safe and secure them in their frames. Place an old magazine, or a child’s book over the glass to protect it from sharp corners and shocks. Wrap the entire thing.
They probably will pack the picture upside down when packing it and placing it on the truck. An edge will absorb more pressure than a flat picture. Place pictures in an area where they won’t tip over, and pack them on their edges. You can wedge them between heavy objects so they won’t move during the move.
Bubble wrap is a great way to prevent it from moving. The box should be wrapped in masking tape. Seal the box by wrapping all four sides in masking tape. This will make the sides stronger and better secure your framed art. will make the sides stronger and better secure your framed art.
